A Confluence of Voices
An Evening of Masterworks with TOI Young Artists, Faculty, and Members of the Taos Chamber Music Group
This first of its kind event will feature all 22 TOI Young Artists as well as members of the Taos Chamber Music Group, performing masterworks by some of the most inspirational composers of all time: Mozart, Bach, Rutter, and many more. The special concert will be led by Maestro Luke Frazier, conductor of the American Pops Orchestra and Symphony of the Americas.

TOI is proud to present Michael Ching’s thought-provoking and powerful opera, Remove Shoes Before Entering, on June 4. The piece will be semi-staged and performed by all 22 of TOI’s Young Artists, with Ching on the piano. Michael has served as TOI’s Composer-In-Residence for 8 years and has been commissioned by TOI to create a brand new opera to be premiered during their 20th Anniversary Festival Season in 2028.

It’s an abstract absurd opera that addresses the progression of today’s housing crisis as it merges into a future housing dystopia. The Milking Parlor, a four piece acoustic ensemble will be playing, singing, and acting out two musical works recently written and composed by Taos resident Justin “Donkeyman” Phillips.
Through The Fence - A Taos Musical about friendship. A young man and woman become platonic bedmates and explore the fine line between friendship and love.
The Shepherd & The Sparrow - A Taos Opera about love and loss. A magic arrow creates a precarious romance between a pastoral shepherd and a migrating bird in this tragic allegory.

SYNOPSIS
A Los Angeles cab driver, Jason Schuyler (Whip Hubley), is offered the fare of a lifetime by driving a local casino dealer and gambler, Jake (Robert Mirabal), to the Navajo Reservation in Arizona, the home he abandoned 30 years ago, to see his grandson compete in a Native American rodeo. But the journey becomes far deeper: a moving reckoning with family, memory, forgiveness, and what truly matters in the time we have left.

ARTIST STATEMENT
More than anything, it is the dualities that aren’t really dualities that interest me: body and mind, the microscopic and the macroscopic, the energy fields that surround us, and reality. What if every artist were the intermediary between what we see and what we imagine? Through my paintings, rich in strong tones revealing a three-dimensional relief that is accentuated by brushstrokes, I strive to make the imperceptible visible. An invitation to a journey between space, time, movement, and color, my work captures the intangible world of the unseen in a continuous process of discovery.

Community Craft Night
Making Rain-Themed Costumes, Props & Decor in Gear Up for the September 26 Walking Parade @ Rio Fernando Park
ABOUT EVENT
RAIN ON OUR PARADE is a communal celebration in gratitude for the live-giving rains and waterways that sustain us. Part party and part prayer/ritual, this 0.5-mile walking parade — full of music, games, storytelling, land connection, and many chances to dance — brings folx of all backgrounds together at the Taos Land Trust’s Rio Fernando Wetlands Park (TAOS, NM) on Saturday afternoon, September 26.
The two-hour event will feature an opening blessing, a brass band to “rain dance” us along, plus small performances at different stops along the way. We will end with a “give back” to TLT, an act of community service in gratitude for the space, such as weeding thistles or painting the structure around the horno.
With weekly community costuming craft nights at Inspire Roots Schoolhouse all through September leading up to the event, this is truly a communal coming-together in creativity and joy as a way to honor the water that connects us all.

ARTIST BIO
Michael Vigil who was a well established and master printmaker. Through out his lifetime he taught Fine Art printmaking to Elementary students, University students and professional artist. His range of female subjects and sports related themes landed him a one-man show at Dodger Stadium along with a prestigious show at the Robert Mondavi Winery in California. His style was clearly his own, his painterly glyphs bold use of color and a combination of media. His work is characterized by brightness and illumination covering large spaces of canvas. He always considered his late father Veloy Vigil his greatest and most significant influence.

Join John Biscello and Amber Vasquez for a two-week program filled with theater games, improv, pantomime, dance, and a dramatic journey into the world of pure imagination. Camp culminates with a performance.

Prospero, Duke of Milan, also a skilled magician, is kidnapped by his scheming brother Antonio and set to sea in a boat with his little daughter Miranda. He washes ashore a magical isle inhabited by spirits of the air including Ariel, his special love, and lower spirits such as Caliban. He brings all under his power and dispells the witch Sycroax. As the play opens, years have passed, Miranda has grown into a beauty, and he longs to return to Milan. How Prospero conjures his return Shakespeare reveals in this: His final work, a fascinating, extraordinary play.
Taos Children's Theatre invokes the magic of the isle with bands of Fairies, joined by Goddesses, shadow puppetry, and shipwrecked royal beings.

Interactive rehearsals are an open invitation for community members and artists to observe dancers in rehearsal.
Much as a painter would have an open studio where the public could walk in and watch them paint, we invite you into the studio to watch dancers create new movement, and to respond to what you observe with your own art.
We will provide art supplies for community members to use. No prior art experience is necessary and participation is art-making is completely optional.
Professional artists are invited to bring pencils and sketchbooks ONLY into the theater at the Wildflower. If you have other mediums you'd like to work with during the rehearsal time, we invite you to attend our interactive rehearsals at the Harwood Museum on June 23rd & 24th.
