Making Rain-Themed Costumes, Props & Decor in Gear Up for the September 26 Walking Parade @ Rio Fernando Park
ABOUT EVENT
RAIN ON OUR PARADE is a communal celebration in gratitude for the live-giving rains and waterways that sustain us. Part party and part prayer/ritual, this 0.5-mile walking parade — full of music, games, storytelling, land connection, and many chances to dance — brings folx of all backgrounds together at the Taos Land Trust’s Rio Fernando Wetlands Park (TAOS, NM) on Saturday afternoon, September 26.
The two-hour event will feature an opening blessing, a brass band to “rain dance” us along, plus small performances at different stops along the way. We will end with a “give back” to TLT, an act of community service in gratitude for the space, such as weeding thistles or painting the structure around the horno.
With weekly community costuming craft nights at Inspire Roots Schoolhouse all through September leading up to the event, this is truly a communal coming-together in creativity and joy as a way to honor the water that connects us all.

ARTIST BIO
Michael Vigil who was a well established and master printmaker. Through out his lifetime he taught Fine Art printmaking to Elementary students, University students and professional artist. His range of female subjects and sports related themes landed him a one-man show at Dodger Stadium along with a prestigious show at the Robert Mondavi Winery in California. His style was clearly his own, his painterly glyphs bold use of color and a combination of media. His work is characterized by brightness and illumination covering large spaces of canvas. He always considered his late father Veloy Vigil his greatest and most significant influence.

Join John Biscello and Amber Vasquez for a two-week program filled with theater games, improv, pantomime, dance, and a dramatic journey into the world of pure imagination. Camp culminates with a performance.

Prospero, Duke of Milan, also a skilled magician, is kidnapped by his scheming brother Antonio and set to sea in a boat with his little daughter Miranda. He washes ashore a magical isle inhabited by spirits of the air including Ariel, his special love, and lower spirits such as Caliban. He brings all under his power and dispells the witch Sycroax. As the play opens, years have passed, Miranda has grown into a beauty, and he longs to return to Milan. How Prospero conjures his return Shakespeare reveals in this: His final work, a fascinating, extraordinary play.
Taos Children's Theatre invokes the magic of the isle with bands of Fairies, joined by Goddesses, shadow puppetry, and shipwrecked royal beings.

Interactive rehearsals are an open invitation for community members and artists to observe dancers in rehearsal.
Much as a painter would have an open studio where the public could walk in and watch them paint, we invite you into the studio to watch dancers create new movement, and to respond to what you observe with your own art.
We will provide art supplies for community members to use. No prior art experience is necessary and participation is art-making is completely optional.
Professional artists are invited to bring pencils and sketchbooks ONLY into the theater at the Wildflower. If you have other mediums you'd like to work with during the rehearsal time, we invite you to attend our interactive rehearsals at the Harwood Museum on June 23rd & 24th. TOI is proud to present Michael Ching’s thought-provoking and powerful opera, Remove Shoes Before Entering, on June 4. The piece will be semi-staged and performed by all 22 of TOI’s Young Artists, with Ching on the piano. Michael has served as TOI’s Composer-In-Residence for 8 years and has been commissioned by TOI to create a brand new opera to be premiered during their 20th Anniversary Festival Season in 2028.

Poetry of famously deceased Taos poets Bill Gersh (1943-1994) & Peter Rabbit (1936-2012) will be performed in an 8-round “DEAD POETS’ POETRY BOUT PERFORMANCE at WILDFLOWER THEATRE, in Taos. at 7pm on APRIL 18, 2026. Part of the TAOSPOETIX! Poetry series, Taos poets Anne MacNaughton & Amalio Madueño will read from works of Gersh & Rabbit in the competitive “poetry bout’ boxing-match format (featuring a referee, judges & ring girls) made famous by the Taos Poetry Circus over a 20-year period from 1982 to 2002. The performance reprises events originating with the annual 1982 Poetry Circus with Allen Ginsberg, covered by AP & the New York Times. Numerous poetry bouts over the years included many NM poetry luminaries as well as nationally recognized poets.

An exhibition on neurodiversity as a community asset exploring the edges between logic and instinct. Pairing Emily Harper’s hard-lined geometrics with M. Lind’s abstract chaos, they contemplate the inner workings of the artist's mind and how it presents itself in the form of similarly colorful process-oriented abstractions.
"Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" explores a family in crises. This intricate drama, set in the Mississippi Delta in 1955, unfolds on the evening of the patriarch Big Daddy's last birthday celebration. A web of secrets, repressions, desire and greed, and a struggle to secure an inheritance comes unraveled. This is not the Hollywood version, but Tennessee William's authentic voice and favorite play.
