Dancing Earth artistic residency culminating in performances titled : “weaving waters"
Dancing Earth brings eco somatic movement work to Wildflower Playhouse in a week-long artistic residency exploring themes of land, water, and celestial navigation. Daily workshops led by Founding Artistic Director Rulan Tangen and a workshop by Māori guest artist Jade Whaanga from New Zealand welcome all levels, ages, and backgrounds.
The residency features extensive open community invitations with daily workshops including EARTH BODY movements, Flowering Way morning meditations, and Earth Warrior fitness sessions. And, a selection of local community artists will be invited for participate in an artistic creation intensive, participating in two evening performances that weave solos and group works into rituals of embodied story and energy activations.
The culminating performances are accompanied by Erin Currier's dance-inspired painting exhibition and post-show artist dialogues. Dancing Earth's 20-year movement language creates "experimental yet elemental dances" that transform ancient wisdom into futuristic invocations through "bone and blood memory in motion."

UNBOUND: a performance ritual
UNBOUND is a performance ritual and community-powered project that honors the Genízaro people and uplifts their legacies. Genízaros were Native people of many tribes, often women and children, who were captured and forced into slave labor during the Spanish colonization of present-day New Mexico. Their stories are often left out of a contemporary understanding of New Mexican history.
