5 Short Plays

Join us for the New Mexico winners of the Don Keefe Memorial Playwriting Contest who wrote five dynamite one-act plays directed by Taos locals. A wonderful community theater event that supports local playwrights and their dream to see their work onstage!

Hot Tub—A perimenopausal woman encounters muscled men with tattoos as she divulges inside information. Romantic navigations ensue as she inspires mating dances in this spa-inspired play.

Lure of the Flame—The main moth is birthed into a pure, unadulterated, natural world. He has all he needs and wants for nothing but falls under the exhilarating spell of the Flame/bug zapper. Upon tasting the Flame, he will give everything to continue tasting it, including his life.

Bridge Demons—While hanging out at the Rio Grande Bridge in Taos, NM, three high school friends contemplate the alluring powers and mysticism it holds on those who come from around the world to end their suffering.

First Date—Two unlikeable people, who connected on a dating app, meet for a first date.  They have a very difficult time focusing on each other because they are completely attached to their phones.

Jackie and Jo—Jackie has stopped in Sweetwater, Tennessee on her way to Jacksonville, Florida and impulsively calls an escort service. Jo arrives but she wasn’t what Jackie was expecting. Jackie only wants a night to remember, but she gets more that she bargained for.
