“La Chuparosa de Taos” is a collaborative project presented by the Taos Elementary Arts Visiting Artist Program.

The Taos Elementary Arts Visiting Artist Program under the coordination of Tanya Vigil and with the support of Superintendent Renetta Mondragon, the Taos Municipal School Board, school administration, staff, teachers and parents. This program has fostered art programming in the district elementary schools of Taos for over 16 years.

By brining artists of all forms into the classroom, students are exposed to the arts and are invited to participate and explore many outlets of the artistic process.

“La Chuparosa” the play is performed by students of Ranchos Elementary and Arroyos del Norte. “La Chuparosa” the book is illustrated by the students of Enos Garcia Elementary.

Friday May 3rd at 6:30pm at the Wildflower Playhouse, starts the celebration of the Elementary Arts in the production of this original work written by playwright Casandra Romero, choreographed by Tuesday Faust, with musical direction by Vicente Griego, Gabriel Osuna, Marianne Wire and Rebecca Caron, costuming by Arielle Christian and illustrations guided by Aya Trevino.

With a full celebration and gallery curation to follow at the Bareiss Gallery on May 4th at 1pm.
